- Profile
The Cape Magicians Circle turned 90 in 2023 and a special convention was held including the South African Championships.
We received many congratulations on achieving 90 years as a club from around the World, including The Magic Circle and the International Brotherhood of Magicians.
The Cape Magicians Circle members ran rampant in the South African Magic Champs and won the following.
The South African National Overall Magic Champion (Stuart Lightbody); The South African Stage Magic Champion (Alexander May- new President of The Cape Magicians Circle) and the South African Close up Magic Champion (Stuart Lightbody).
Sebastiano Ollo (Cape Magicians Circle member) won second place in the Close Up Magic and Third Place in Stage Magic.
Interestingly, Alexander May’s daughter was given a honorary membership of “Association de Magiciens Internationaux” for her appearance in Alexander May’s winning stage act (she is around 4 or 5 years old).
The year of 2024 (and ongoing to 2025), has been packed with many interesting events under the guidance of the new Committee.
The Cape Magicians Circle has attracted a wide range of members over many years. Having been intertwined with the College of Magic from its beginnings, there is a symbiosis between the two.
Which has resulted in many of the visitors to the College also meeting members of the Circle and a constant flow of members coming from graduates of the College.
The Circle has meetings once a month, held on the premises of the College of Magic. At 7 pm, on the first Tues of every month.
Both performing and non performing members attend. The common demoninator is that all have an interest in Magic and the Art of performing magic.
Please feel free to use the contact details, if you would like to get in touch and attend a meeting.
PLEASE see the tab Xtra info/news for the latest goings on.
The current President of The Cape Magicians Circle is Alexander May (available on 082 298 2882)
