David Kaplan, known professionally as “The Great Kaplan,” is a renowned magician, juggler, and comedian who combines these skills in a unique vaudevillian style act. He is celebrated for his eccentric magic and comedy routines, which include juggling, music, and a variety of other performances. Kaplan is known for his impeccable comedic timing and his ability to create a world where anything seems possible, transforming mundane objects into mysterious and entertaining ones.

Kaplan’s act has been described as a “hilarious ballet of chaos and calamity” and is characterized by his originality and deadpan humor. He has performed as a headliner at the Magic Castle in Hollywood and has appeared on prestigious television shows such as the French television show, Le Plus Grand Cabaret du Monde. Additionally, he has performed at the world’s largest magic festival, FISM in Italy, and continues to tour internationally, performing in various countries including Germany, China, and Brazil.
Despite his clown-like antics, Kaplan prefers to be known as a comedian and magician rather than a clown, as he believes clowns are not universally appreciated in the United States. He has been performing professionally for over 20 years and has received numerous accolades, including first place at the Canton Battle of Magicians and the “Peoples Choice” award at the 2006 International Brotherhood of Magicians Convention. In 2010, he was awarded the Mandrake d’Or in Paris.
Kaplan’s act often includes playing “concert balloon” with orchestras, a skill he developed after seeing it in a movie and turning it into an art form. He has performed with the Columbus Symphony Orchestra in Ohio and continues to innovate and entertain audiences around the world.
